Dropshipping Poland vs. UK — Which Market Is Better in 2026?

Disclosure: This article contains affiliate links. I only recommend tools I personally use.

I personally run stores in foreign markets — UK, Germany, France, Scandinavia. Not in Poland. The question "why?" comes up regularly. In this article I give the full, honest answer — with concrete numbers on both sides.

Key Metrics Comparison

Metric Poland UK Germany France
Avg CPM (Meta Ads) $4–9 £3–10 €4–12 €4–11
Avg CPC $0.12–0.60 £0.35–1.00 €0.40–1.20 €0.40–1.10
Avg AOV $20–37 £40–80 €35–75 €30–70
Online shoppers ~22M ~52M ~65M ~48M
E-commerce trust level Medium High High High

Why I Run Stores Abroad

1. Market Scale

Poland has ~22 million active online shoppers. UK has ~52 million. Germany ~65 million. With the same conversion rate — a foreign market gives 2–3x more potential customers.

2. Higher Average Order Value (AOV)

Polish AOV is growing year over year, but still lower than UK/DE/FR. If I sell a product for £40 in the UK, in Poland I'd need to sell it for ~$30–40 with higher expectations around quality and brand trust.

3. Less Local Competition for Foreign Products

In Poland, you face strong local competition (local retailers, marketplace dominance). In Western markets — with a good product and good marketing — you're competing with dropshippers from around the world, but without a single dominant local giant.

4. CPC Isn't As Much Higher As You Think

Yes, UK CPC ($0.45) is higher than Polish ($0.25). But with 3x higher AOV, the ROAS with the same creatives is comparable or better.

When the Polish Market Makes Sense

Polish market works if:

  1. You have a product specific to Polish consumers — something that doesn't sell well abroad
  2. You know the language and culture — creatives in Polish, local references
  3. You're starting with TikTok organic — Polish content is easier to create
  4. You have a logistics advantage — local supplier, faster domestic shipping

But for scalable dropshipping with a real ad budget — foreign markets win.

Costs: Poland vs. UK — Detailed Comparison

Costs That Are Identical

Item Poland UK
Shopify Basic ~$29 ~$29
Teemdrop $0 $0
DSers $0 $0
Domain .com ~$15 ~$15

Platform and tools are identical regardless of market. The difference is only in ads and customer service.

Costs That Differ By Market

Item Poland UK
CPC (Meta Ads) $0.12–0.60 $0.45–1.25
Cost of 1 product test (€50) ~$55 ~$55 (same)
Customer service (language) Polish — native English — manageable
Localization time Minimal Minimal (EN content is global)

Key insight: product test cost is identical — €50 is €50 regardless of market. The difference is what you get from those €50.

How to Start on a Foreign Market Without Being a Native Speaker

The language barrier is smaller than you think:

Ads: Meta targets by language and location. Create once in English — works for UK, USA, Australia, Canada. One creative, four markets.

Customer service: ChatGPT handles customer service in English better than most native-English-speaking assistants. Response templates in 5 languages — 30 minutes to set up.

Store: Shopify in English is the global standard. No translation needed.

My Recommendation

Under $625: Start with TikTok organic. Smaller scope, easier learning curve.

$625–2,500: Start with UK or DE. Same learning, bigger scaling potential.

$2,500+: UK/DE/FR is the obvious choice. Polish market as additional diversification, not the starting point.

FAQ

Can I run a UK dropshipping store from Poland?

Yes, and that's what I do. Shopify is global. Meta Ads targets by location. Customer service through English templates. Logistics through Teemdrop — they handle shipping without your involvement.

Do I need to pay UK VAT on sales to UK customers?

Post-Brexit, the UK has its own VAT rules (threshold: £85,000/year for non-UK businesses). Consult an accountant — depends on your volume and company structure.

How much does localizing a store for the UK cost?

Practically zero — English is Shopify's default language. No translation needed at start.
