Exchange vs Refund Ratio — How Much Revenue You Recover From Returns
### oneLiner
Measures what percentage of returns result in an exchange, store credit, or refund — and shows your overall return revenue recovery rate.
### whenToUse
- When you want to know how much money stays in the store through exchanges versus leaving as cash refunds.
- When evaluating the impact of an exchange incentive offer (e.g., bonus store credit for choosing exchange over refund).
- When comparing periods before and after a returns policy change to measure the real revenue impact.
### howToRun
```
Run skill: shopify-admin-exchange-vs-refund-ratio
Store: yourstore.myshopify.com
days_back: 30
compare_days_back: 30
```
### whatYouGet
A CSV file `exchange_refund_ratio_YYYY-MM-DD.csv` with columns: return ID, order name, resolution type, exchange SKU, refund amount, currency, created date. In human format, a breakdown shows: exchanges (revenue kept), store credit (revenue deferred), refunds (revenue lost), and the total revenue recovery rate. With `compare_days_back > 0`, a period-over-period comparison appears. Read-only — no data is changed.
### polishContext
Polish consumer law guarantees the consumer the right to a cash refund — you cannot substitute a refund with store credit only without the customer's explicit agreement. A revenue recovery rate above 30% (exchanges + store credit) is a strong benchmark for fashion/apparel. Every percentage point of refunds converted to exchanges has a direct impact on cashflow.
